At Scipio Accounting Services, we believe great accounting isn’t just about numbers, it’s about trust. Every client relationship we build is a partnership, and part of that partnership involves making sure your business is protected, compliant, and supported at every stage.

One of the most important ways we do this is by meeting strict Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements. While AML might sound like regulatory “red tape,” it is actually a vital safeguard for both you and us and a necessary part of working together as responsible professionals.

What AML Compliance Actually Means

As a UK accounting firm, we are legally required to comply with the Money Laundering Regulations 2017, which means carrying out checks and procedures to help prevent financial crime.

These responsibilities include:

· Verifying the identity of every client (“Know Your Customer” checks)

· Confirming the legitimacy of your business activities

· Keeping secure, accurate records

· Monitoring for unusual or suspicious activity

· Reporting concerns to the proper authorities, if needed

Although this process happens largely in the background, it forms a crucial layer of protection for you, your business, and the wider financial system.

Why This Matters for You as Our Client

We know compliance can feel like extra admin but the purpose is genuinely in your favour.

AML checks help ensure:

1. Your business stays protected

Thorough checks prevent your company or personal accounts from being used, even unknowingly, in any form of financial crime.

2. Our partnership is built on transparency

By verifying identities and reviewing key information, we ensure that everything is clear, open, and fully above board from day one.

3. You’re working with an accountant who takes responsibility seriously

AML compliance is not an optional extra — it’s a sign that your accountant operates with integrity and professionalism.

4. You benefit from a stronger, safer working relationship

Compliance creates certainty. You know who you’re working with, how your information is handled, and that your accountant is acting in your best interests at all times.

Ultimately, AML compliance isn’t just a regulatory requirement, it’s a shared commitment that protects our partnership.

Companies House Verification: What’s Changing and How We Help

Alongside AML checks, the recent changes at Companies House mean that directors and Persons with Significant Control (PSCs) now need to be formally verified to combat fraud and improve company transparency.

There are two ways to complete this:

  1. Directors can verify themselves and provide us with the relevant verification codes

  2. Accountants can carry out verification as an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP)

Scipio Accounting Services is able to act as an ACSP, meaning we can complete this verification for you using the AML information we already collect — keeping the process smooth and consistent.

Some practices charge an additional fee for this service. We do not. At Scipio, this forms part of the company secretarial support we offer our limited company clients.

This is just another way we work in partnership with you, reducing admin, ensuring accuracy, and keeping compliance simple.

Our Commitment to You

Being AML compliant is not about ticking boxes or creating hurdles. It’s about:

  • Protecting your business

  • Strengthening our working relationship

  • Ensuring your accounts are handled with complete professionalism

  • Safeguarding the trust you place in us

When you choose Scipio Accounting Services, you’re choosing an accountant who sees compliance not as an obligation, but as an essential part of supporting you and your business responsibly.
